John Heitinga has made a comeback with former club Ajax.

The 31-year old defender has signed a one-year deal with the Dutch giants, returning to the Amsterdam Arena seven years after he departed.

Former Holland international Heitinga joined Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2008 before spending four-and-a-half years with Everton. A winter 2014 move to Fulham ensued prior to him joining Hertha Berlin last summer.

Heitinga, who is an Ajax youth product, is now back with the Eredivisie giants who are looking to take back the Dutch title they lost to rivals PSV Eindhoven last season.
