Roberto Martinez has reportedly held a surprise meeting with Belgian club Anderlecht.
Belgian daily HLN is of the belief that the former Everton boss spoke with officials of the Brussels giants regarding their managerial vacancy.
It is understood that contact was made with the Spaniard more than a month ago before discussions were held on Wednesday.
However, German publication Kicker believes that Anderlecht have also opened talks with FC Nurnberg boss Rene Weiler and are being tipped to hire the former Swiss defender.
Renowned French coach Paul Le Guen is also an option as Martinez is likely to be far too expensive.
The 42-year-old was sacked by the Toffees late last season and is expected to attract a fair amount of interest this summer.
