Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has declared new signing Oriol Romeu fit to start the Europa League play-off clash against FC Midtjylland.

The former Chelsea midfielder made his debut for the club as a half-time substitute in the Premier League defeat against Everton but is now ready to start from the outset on Thursday night.

Koeman said in his pre-match conference: "He's fit enough, he had a normal pre-season. Of course he didn't really have that intensity in the level of games in the friendlies, but he is okay, he is fit to play. He needs rhythm, game time, that's for sure, but we will give him that."
