Former Barcelona midfielder Fragoso joins Chivas USA

Chivas USA have confirmed the capture of Spanish midfielder Daniel Fragoso.

The 31-year old has joined the MLS club from Spanish Segunda Division B side Centre D'Esports L'Hospital and will be added to the Goats' roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.

Fragoso is a product of the Espanyol and Real Madrid youth academies and has, up until this point, spent his entire professional career in his homeland.

Chivas head coach Wilmer Cabrera was delighted to welcome the former Barcelona man to California ahead of the 2014 MLS season which kicks off this weekend.

"Daniel is a very technical player, known for his excellent control of the ball and possession," said Cabrera.

"Those strengths are going to be very important for our team as we try to have a group that knows and is able to win and move the ball.

"He's a very experienced player, as he joins us from one of the world's greatest academy systems, where the technical players are very important. Hopefully he can adapt quickly to the pace of this league, and start helping the team and his teammates on the field with his possession and the way he manages the game."

During his career, Fragoso has played for Espanyol's and Barcelona's B sides, and at senior level Alcocorn, Extremadura, Ciudad Murcia, Granada 74, Cadiz, Albacete, Melilla and Atletico Baleares.
