Victor Valdes is set to undergo a medical with Middlesbrough.
The former Barcelona and Manchester United goalkeeper will have the test with the Premier League returnees on Thursday, according to The Guardian.
Valdes was released by United earlier this summer but is set for a return to England after holding talks with Boro boss Aitor Karanka.
It is understood that an agreement is in place for a free transfer to occur which would see the 34-year-old Spaniard arrive at the Riverside Stadium to provide competition for number one Dimi Konstantopoulos and fellow countryman Tomas Mejias.
Values has opted for Middlesbrough ahead of Turkish giants Besiktas and Portuguese powerhouse Sporting Lisbon.
