Forest boss Pearce: English kids need greater support

Nottingham Forest boss Stuart Pearce says local talent needs to be given it's chance in the Premier League.

The former England star reckons the FA are light-years behind the likes of European powerhouses France, Germany and Spain.

"We have to build from the bottom and we failed to build from the bottom," he told the Daily Star.

"If we don't, and we continue not to send our best young players to the tournaments, we'll continue not to get the results at senior level.

"I've said this over many years.

"Have a look what Germany and France do.

"Look at Spain and roll back the clock six years and have a look at their Under-21s and Under-19s winning tournaments.

"That's the breeding ground."
