Food poisoning hits Arsenal youngster Iwobi

Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi suffered food poisoning while on international duty with the Nigerian national team.

Iwobi was called up to the Nigerian national team for African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt on Saturday and Tuesday and it was expected that the youngster would be starting for the Super Eagles after impressing for the Gunners first team recently.

However, Iwobi's participation for the game has been put in doubt after it was revealed that the 19-year-old was hospitalised due to food poisoning.

Nigeria manager Samson Siasia revealed: "He suffered from food poisoning and so was not part of the training. But his condition is stable."

Lagos-born Iwobi has represented England at youth level and remains eligible for the Three Lions senior team until he plays for Nigeria in a competitive match, having made two friendly appearances thus far.
