Real Madrid president Florentino Perez was delighted to welcome Eden Hazard as his latest Galactico on Thursday.

A small stage was erected in one of the stands and, with Hazard himself and his family watching on, Perez was the first to speak to the 50,000-strong crowd.

"A marvellous player has arrived, one who is different and capable of doing amazing things with a football," the club president said.

"Footballers with a unique talent like Hazard have formed our great history.

"We've applied the philosophy of our president Santiago Bernabeu and our honorary president Alfredo Di Stefano, who changed the history of this club.

"The legend must continue forward with the best players in the world and Eden is one of those.

"The extraordinary search for victory is our sign of identity and we're going to count on a magnificent squad of players with [Zinedine] Zidane in charge."

Perez also admitted that he'd been trying to sign Hazard from Chelsea for a while before finally landing his man this summer.

"This is something that I've wanted to do for some time," he said.

"Today we welcome one of the best players in the world. You fulfil one of your dreams, people want to enjoy your talent and creativity.

"This club's members and supporters will be by your side because they know that your football is special and different."
