Real Madrid president Florentino Perez paid tribute to Sergio Ramos at today's farewell media conference.

Ramos leaves Real Madrid after 16 years with the club as his contract expires this month.

Ahead of presenting Ramos with a goal and diamond insigna of Real Madrid, Florentino said: "This act is an act full of feelings and emotions for all Madridistas and also for me.

"It has been many years, many games ... He arrived at the age of 19 and only a few games in the Primera Division.

"It was my first signing of a Spanish player, a signing that was not easy. But we were clear that his signing was going to mark an era. You arrived as a child and I am enormously proud of what you have conquered. You are one of the great legends of Real Madrid.

"You have earned the respect and admiration of those who love this sport. Thank you for defending our shield and our shirt, leaving your soul in every game. For the Madridistas who love this club, they will always be the hero of La Décima."

Former Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas also had a message for Ramos today.

"Today you leave your home friend, but you will always be a Real Madrid legend. A pleasure to have shared so many good moments with you. All the best in your future. GREAT INSIDE AND OUT," he posted online.
