Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is convinced Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso wants to join his 'new project'.

El Mundo Deportivo says Xabi, through his representatives, has informed Perez he is keen to join Real this summer.

Liverpool are insisting Xabi is not for sale, though it's suggested manager Rafa Benitez would be prepared to negotiate should Real include Alvaro Negredo in their offer.
