Flanagan living the dream at Liverpool

Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan admits he's fulfilling a boyhood dream this season.

Flanagan, 21, grew up close to Anfield and is living a dream having nailed down a regular starting place in Brendan Rodgers' starting XI.

"I'm feeling more confident now I've had a run of games," he told the Liverpool Echo. "Maybe last year I didn't feel like part of the squad but now I'm in the team and having a good run so I'm feeling a lot better and more confident."

The defender added: "To be a local lad and support Liverpool all your life and to go on to play for them is a dream come true for me, really. For the fans, it's what they want to see local lads coming through and playing for the club.

"Hopefully there's many more to come through as well."
