Fjortoft urges Man Utd target Haaland to choose Germany

Former Middlesbrough star Jan Aage Fjortoft has praised Erling Haaland's camp over their approach to a potential RB Salzburg departure.

Haaland was in Germany this week for talks with RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund, while he reportedly met with Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Friday.

Fjortoft said, "What impresses me most about Team Haaland is the way they think about development. They did it when they went to Salzburg and coach Marco Rose, who disappeared to Borussia Mönchegladbach, but Salzburg has a philosophy in which they develop players.

"He did this even though he had offers from Juventus, which could pay a lot more."

Fjortoft admits he'd like to see Haaland move to Germany over England.

He explained: "Then he certainly has gotten better sooner than he thought. Then it's easy to think of going to the Premier League. He is born in England, has a father who played in England and two plus two are four in some clubs in England. Now it has not been decided where he is going and he can still go to the Premier League, but should they choose to take him to the Bundesliga, then it'd be a very smart move."
