First goal in over a year will help my confidence - Man City winger Jesus Navas

Jesus Navas has stated that he has gained confidence after breaking his 15-month goal drought during the clash against Everton on Wednesday night.

City suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss at the hands of Everton at Goodison Park in the semi-final first leg of the Capital One Cup but despite the defeat, the match came as a source of great relief for Spaniard Navas.

Navas scored the equaliser in the 76th minute after coming off the bench, which was his first strike since September 2014, and after getting the monkey off his back, the winger has stated that he gained a lot of confidence.

Navas said: "I always try to create a lot of chances, but maybe this season I have been unlucky when it came to scoring goal.

"But this time I managed to score a goal which helps my confidence.

"Manuel (Pellegrini) has been helping me with this and I am grateful to him for the fact I scored."
