Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella hopes to assess Mario Gomez this week about the striker's return.

Gomez has been out for five months with a knee injury.

"He is training only gradually, avoiding tackles, so to call him up just to experience being on the field again seems premature to me," said Montella. "We'll see in a few days, though."
