Fiorentina coach Italiano on Coppa final against Inter Milan: If we repeat our performance in Basel...

Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano is "proud" to have led the team to the Coppa Italia final.

Ahead of tonight's clash with Inter Milan, Italiano reflected on how the Viola reached the final.

He said, "We're very proud to be on that field tomorrow and to have visited the President of the Republic. And let's not forget the other final, a fantastic journey. We have a very tough obstacle, the Champions League finalist, but we arrive serene to put them in difficulty. They're very strong but we've come this far and we'll try to give a hard time.

"I focus on the last two years, on the incredible growth process from the first Moena onwards. I had guys who were focused and willing to listen from day one. We had to get out of non-exciting moments, both me and them came from a salvation on the penultimate day.

"This year we started with two objectives: improve our progress in the Italian Cup and we succeeded, then also honor the Conference and go all the way. We want to put our two very strong opponents in difficulty now. We deserved this trophy (points to the cup) and we want to play for it.

"You can imagine it, then you take the field and the imponderable of football changes everything. I know we are facing a team that can invent plays at any moment, we have to re-propose what allowed us to get here, thinking only of ourselves, doing everything possible to put Inter in difficulty. We need a superlative performance like Basel, the only way we can do it. I want those eyes there, convinced we can do it, and at the end of the game we'll see."
