Fiorentina coach Italiano finds positives in Inter Milan defeat

Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano was happy with their performance in defeat to Inter Milan.

The Viola were 1-0 ahead before Inter stormed back to win 3-1.

“For 70 minutes we were more than a match for the Champions of Italy," Italiano told DAZN.

“It's important to see the glass half-full, which is that we played very well for 70 minutes and left the field to applause from our fans, even after defeat. That is important to us and to me.

“In the first half, Inter hardly ever managed a shot on goal and we had many chances to add a second goal.

“After the break, we started getting too deep and that invited Inter back into the game. Inter are so strong physically and have so much quality, we had to expect them to fight back."

The coach added: "The first objective must always be safety. We've got to improve in many ways, including in the final third. We lacked the courage that we had in the first half and that is a pity, because it was a good performance."
