FIGC chief Costacurta: Chelsea boss Conte still best Italy candidate

FIGC chief Billy Costacurta has again talked up the prospect of Chelsea boss Antonio Conte taking charge of the Italy national team.

Costacurta has already made one trip to London to try and convince Conte about a second stint as Azzurri coach - and isn't giving up.

He told Gazzetta dello Sport: "Conte? Among the potential candidates, for me there could not be one better. And surely I will see him in a couple of months.

"We're in a hurry, but I'll say it right away: I will not contact him (now), it would be a little early, although I'm sure it will occur in a few years, because he has everything.

"Anyway, besides Conte, I would be comfortable with (Roberto) Mancini or (Carlo) Ancelotti.

"I would not neglect the Serie A coaches like (Gian Piero) Gasperini or (Marco) Giampaolo, they are very good and would do well."
