FIFA inform Envigado James left Real Madrid for Everton in free transfer

FIFA have informed Envigado that Everton did not pay a penny to sign James Rodriguez from Real Madrid last summer.

James' former club in Colombia were convinced they were due training fees after he left Real, but after taking the case to FIFA, it was ruled that no money between the two European clubs exchanged hands.

Envigado president Ramiro Ruiz said: "We were a bit lost on the matter, they answered that indeed the signing had been for free ... Today James is among the most valued players and reached his 100th goal in Europe, something that not just anyone can achieve. But for them he continues being free.

"But obviously we had no arguments to implement a lawsuit and we had to assume the communication that came to us from Everton and leave it like that."
