Feyenoord star Clasie remains in Southampton sights

Southampton are lining up a move for Jordy Clasie as a replacement for Morgan Schneiderlin.

Schneiderlin is on the verge of completing his move to Manchester United and as a result, Saints boss Ronald Koeman is eager to land a replacement for the Frenchman.

Reports suggest that Southampton are on on the verge of completing the signing of Clasie after it was revealed by Feyenoord that the Dutch international has been subject to concrete interest from 'another club'.

Addressing Clasie's future, Feyenoord released the following statement: "Jordy Clasie will not play against Fortuna Dusseldorf on Sunday. The reason is that concrete interest has been shown for the captain from another club.

"The club and player have therefore agreed that he will not play as long as talks on a possible transfer are ongoing."

Feyenoord did not reveal the identity of the club but it is widely believed that Southampton are the team that have made the approach for Clasie.
