Ferrara proud of Italy U21 after Hungary thumping

Italy coach Ciro Ferrara was delighted with their 3-0 victory over Hungary.

The Azzurrini opened their qualifying campaign for the European Championships with a thumping victory away from home.

"Today the lads were perfect in every way. It was the best performance of my tenure with the Under-21 side," said the Coach.

Manolo Gabbiadini bagged a brace before Fabio Borini's late strike, but there were numerous other chances.

"We commanded the game from start to finish. The result is accurate and it's a shame about the chances we failed to take in the first half. Thankfully, we managed to break the deadlock after the restart.

"Today Alberto Paloschi and Mattia Destro went on the bench, two great strikers who participated in the game with the right spirit. I have four forwards and with every match try to use those in best shape.

"My players all have quality, strength and technique as well as different characteristics which mean they combine brilliantly.

"I am happy because the lads didn't get a thing wrong today. Despite not having much room at club level, they come to the Nazionale with the right spirit. I am happy, but let's not forget we are only at the start."
