Fernando Torres on Atletico Madrid super-sub role: I've been fighting since Kiko and Salva were here

Fernando Torres was proud to be part Atletico Madrid's victory over Malaga on Saturday.

It marked a winning debut for the club's new Wanda Metropolitan stadium.

Torres declared: "For me, the satisfaction of wearing this shirt in front of these fans and feeling the affection they have for me is undoubtedly my greatest triumph.

"I think it has been a celebration for the athletes, who have enjoyed a stadium that would not have been possible without them or us, without all the ones that have made it possible in recent years to get here."

On his super-sub role so far this season, Torres insists he won't complain.

"It has never been easy, ever since I started. When I started I had Kiko, Salva, who came from being Pichichi de Primera and went down to Segunda to help the team, in the National Team in England ... the competition is always there, I can compete with my teammates, I train to play. If I do not play, I will train better, I will not lower my arms."
