Ferland Mendy isn't panicking over his slow start at Real Madrid.

The former Lyon fullback is currently recovering from a leg injury and it's been suggested his place in France's squad is under threat.

But Mendy insists: "I would not say that it is a danger to be in a club like Madrid. I think France needs great players who are in big teams.

"If all goes well, I will return to the group next week."

He added: "I find competition everywhere, in Real, in the national team, in any club there is. I hope to make the most of the matches with my team and do my best."
