Ferguson: Valencia out long term with broken ankle

Sir Alex Ferguson fears Antonio Valencia suffered a broken ankle in Manchester United's 0-0 Champions League draw with Rangers. The Ecuadorian was stretchered off after going down under an innocuous-looking tackle from Gers' defender Kirk Broadfoot in the 62nd minute.

The 25 year old winger was taken straight to hospital after the game.

"It looks like a dislocation and a fracture and will keep him out for a long time," said Ferguson.

"He seemed to dig his toe into the turf, and as soon as we saw the Rangers player waving we knew it was a bad one, and it's turned into a bad one."
