Ferdinand admits Man Utd in transition

Rio Ferdinand admits Manchester United are a team in transition.

The England captain is banking on the time for United to peak not to take too long.

"This is my second transitional period in eight years," he told the Sunday Telegraph. "Hopefully it will not take as long as last time. I do not see it as a blip in our quest to win trophies.

"It does not feel the same as last time [between 2005 and 2008]. That was a real changing of the guard - older players who had been integral to the success of the club, Roy Keane, David Beckham, Ruud van Nistelrooy, leaving.

We have not had that this time. We have just added younger players for the benefit of the team."
