Fenerbahce midfielder Ozan Tufan was close to joining Crystal Palace two years ago, it has been revealed.

The agent of Tufan has said that Alexander Sorloth was signed instead of his client following what he described as a change of priority from Palace, as he outlined just how close the Turkish midfielder was to joining the Eagles.

Speaking to Sabah, Utku Cenikli said: “Ozan was very close to joining Crystal Palace in 2018. We were about to complete the deal but Palace informed us the deal is off at the last minute.

"After Bakary Sako got injured they said they have changed the priority and went for an attacker instead, and they signed [Alexander] Sorloth."
