Dick Advocaat was critical of Robin van Persie in the wake of Sunday's disappointing 1-1 home draw with Alanyaspor.
The Dutch striker started in the SuperLig for the first time this season but was unable to find the back of the net as Fener dropped to ninth on the table.
With the Istanbul giants due to face van Persie's former club Manchester United in the Europa League on Thursday night, Advocaat was critical of his star forward, along with the rest of his underperforming players.
Advocaat said: "Strikers must score goals.
"They want to score but they did not. You have to ask, why not?
"If you want to play for the championship you need more. And I don't just mean van Persie, I mean the total team."
