Fed-up Barcelona star Messi rejects Copa America bronze medal

Barcelona star Leo Messi has hit out a federation officials after being sent off in Argentina's win over Chile in the Copa America.

Messi criticised CONMEBOL after Argentina's 2-1 victory over Chile in the third-place play-off.

He claimed that Argentina have had the odds against them throughout the tournament.

"We don't have to form part of the corruption there has been against us during this Copa America," the forward told reporters afterwards.

Speaking in detail about the incident with Gary Medel, Messi wasn't sure why the referee didn't view footage of the clash on the VAR monitor.

"Medel always goes to the limit," the Albiceleste captain said.

"With a yellow card, it would have finished it for us both, but maybe I paid for what I said the last time.

"It could have been revised, but they didn't use VAR."

Messi later did not go and collect his bronze medal after the match.
