FC Zurich coach Ludovic Magnin felt they let themselves down in their Europa League defeat to Napoli.

Napoli came away with a 3-1 first leg victory thanks to goals from Lorenzo Insigne, Jose Callejon and Piotr Zielinski.

“I above all saw in the first half a Napoli side that is much stronger than us, especially as we didn't start the game the way we intended," said Magnin.

“We weren't determined enough in the challenges. Napoli lowered the tempo after the break and without pressure or anything left to lose, we started playing better.

“We've got new players, it's our third game together and there was a long winter break, but we're not looking for alibis. The problem was the tempo and intensity that Napoli played at. We are not accustomed to playing at this level in Switzerland."
