FC Utrecht striker Dani van der Moot admits he turned down Liverpool as a teenager.

Now 21, Van der Moot had an offer from the Reds as a 15 year-old, though chose to sign for PSV Eindhoven instead.

He told Voetbalzone: "My love for Liverpool came about thanks to Fernando Torres. I was a big fan of his and tried to copy many of his actions on the field. You try to compare yourself a bit with him.

"When Torres went to Liverpool, I followed him and Liverpool more intensively. I saw every game and the atmosphere and experience at Anfield is unique. That can probably be confirmed by every footballer who played there."
