FC Dallas acquire Adam Moffat from Seattle Sounders

FC Dallas has acquired veteran defensive midfielder Adam Moffat from Seattle Sounders FC, the club announced today.

In return, Seattle receives allocation money and the rights to negotiate a contract with Kenny Cooper, who prior to the trade would have been available in the MLS Re-entry Draft as Dallas was unable to come to terms with the veteran forward.

Moffat, 27, set career-highs with 26 appearances, 24 starts and three goals for Houston in 2013 before the Dynamo traded him to Seattle in mid-September. After joining Sounders FC, he played six games, starting the final four matches of the regular season and all three playoff matches for the club.

The Scottish midfielder won the 2008 MLS Cup with Sigi Schmid's Columbus Crew and started in the 2011 and 2012 MLS Cup final with Houston.
