Father of PSV star Lozano 'in Seventh Heaven' over move to Maradona's Napoli

The father of Hirving Lozano says he sees Napoli as a destination, not a "stepping stone".

The PSV Eindhoven midfielder is finalising his move to Naples today.

“I am in Seventh Heaven," Jesus Lozano told Gonfialarete.com. “The best thing that can happen for a father is to see his son reach the top, achieving his dreams step by step.

Napoli does not represent a stepping stone or intermediary club for him, but a point of arrival and I am convinced it'll be a fundamental moment in his career.

“It was a very long negotiation process, which started four months ago, but I can say that throughout that time playing for Napoli was always his objective. There was interest from other clubs, but none of them made concrete steps to buy him other than Napoli.

“I know that Naples is very similar to Latin America, with far more passion than we're used to seeing in Holland. The pressure doesn't frighten him.

“Obviously, he is very happy. Imagine: my son playing for the club that Diego Armando Maradona represented. He confessed to me that this idea particularly excites him.

“We know their objective is to win the Scudetto. Hirving arrived well aware that it's his target as a Napoli player. It won't be easy against this Juventus, but I am sure that my son's arrival can be an important brick in the construction of this dream."
