The father of Neymar has defended the PSG star after his latest controversial interview.
Speaking on Saturday, Neymar admitted Barca's famous Champions League fight-back against PSG was one of the greatest moments in his career. His comments coming amid talk of the attacker attempting to force through a return to Barca.
Neymar Snr, however, posted to social media: "My son has not, at any time, disrespected PSG, or the players who played this game in 2017, some of whom are his teammates currently in the French club. Since the end of this match until today, he still remembers this match as one of the most important of his career, as shown in the images in this article.
"To attribute this SPONTANEOUS and HONEST event to a provocation of his current club is a malicious attitude, which has no other intention than to want to find a controversy where it does not exist. Journalists and fans around the world consider this match to be the most memorable for a player defending a club. He has already expressed the opinion of this exploit, if not the most important, among his best performances.
"So why controversy this time? Why see this memory as a provocation? Remembering a milestone in your career can not be considered a lack of respect. My son is a PSG player, but he cannot just ignore his story. The story that helped him join the French club."
