The father of Marcos Alonso has revealed how the fullback has taken advantage of manager Thomas Tuchel replacing Frank Lampard.
Alonso's father, Marcos Snr, formerly of Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, believes his son has learned an important lesson after his emergence back into the starting line-up for the Blues.
The 30-year-old has been one of the most picked options at left wing-back under Tuchel.
Speaking to Onda Cero, Marcos Snr said: "I didn't do it well (during my playing career) and you have to do it well in case another coach comes.
"Thanks to his effort, he has trained, and he has not stopped, he has been able to do well and the coach can count on him."
Alonso returned to the starting line-up in Tuchel's second game in charge against Burnley.
That was the 30-year-old's first appearance for the Blues since September and he topped it off by scoring our goal of the month.
"They are things that happen, and you learn everything.
"My son has learned a lesson and knows that this is over and does not last for life."
