The father of Nicolo Zaniolo admits the Roma midfielder is facing six months out after suffering an ACL injury.
The 20-year-old ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament and damaged the meniscus during the 2-1 home defeat to Juventus on Sunday.
"Naturally, he wants to be there, but if the timing of his recovery doesn't allow for that, he'll have to accept it," former Genoa striker Igor Zaniolo told the Corriere dello Sport.
“It's generally five to six months, then we'll see. Now he has to focus on getting back on his feet, then we'll see, it's important not to rush these things.
“The Euros are important, but recovering completely is the main thing. He starts rehabilitation tomorrow and will follow the timetable set out for him by the medics.
“He's already raring to go, so we've got to calm him down a bit!"
