Andreas Pereira's father says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer convinced his son to sign a contract extension with Manchester United.
The midfielder agreed terms on a four-year deal earlier in the summer.
And Marcos Pereira has revealed the Norwegian told the 23-year-old that he was part of his long-term plans.
"The trainer spoke to Andreas and told him that his future is in Manchester," Pereira's father told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad (via Sport Witness).
"We could agree with his plan. The goal is to now secure a first-team spot. He is now 23, which is a mature age [for a footballer]."
