Fashanu says Nigeria should stick with Lagerback

Former Wimbledon and Aston Villa striker John Fashanu says Nigeria coach Lars Lagerback should stay in charge.

Nigeria Football Association president Fashanu has countered the opinions of the government, who have stated that they felt a change was needed at the helm.

But he also maintained that younger players should be brought into the side, with Lagerback selecting the likes of veteran striker Kanu over Everton youngster Victor Anichebe.

"We want to keep him (Lagerback) for another two years, he has done it well," said Fashanu.

"They (the Government) were not pleased. Nigeria didn't win a single match.

"It's time to bring in the young players."
