German giants Hamburg SV are being urged by fans to sign Northern Ireland striker Will Grigg.

The Wigan striker has become an unlikely star at Euro 2016, despite not playing a single minute of his country's four games, thanks to the song 'Will Grigg's On Fire', adapted by a Latics fan from Gala's 1997 hit Freed From Desire.

An online petition signed by over 5500 HSV fans is encouraging the club to buy Grigg.

"After several proposals on social networks we start herewith a petition to direct the attention of HSV (Hamburg) to a transfer of the Northern Ireland international Will Grigg," the petition said.

The petition said Grigg had a market value of 1.5 million euros (£1.23m) and would probably "bring in that much several times over in merchandising".
