Southampton are firming up their interest in Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield.
The Mirror says Arfield has been one of Rangers' best players this season after joining from Burnley last summer and has helped Steven Gerrard enjoy an impressive first year at Ibrox.
But he has also caught the eye of Premier League clubs with Southampton checking on his progress as they look to strengthen their squad.
Southampton's director of football operations Ross Wilson knows Arfield from their time together at Falkirk and would be keen on a £3million move.
Saints are anxious to avoid another battle against relegation trouble and will back manager Ralph Hasenhuttl with new signings this summer.
