FA want Chelsea great Lampard, Liverpool legend Gerrard

The Football Association have offered Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard a quick pathway into coaching.

According to The Sun, the FA want the Premier League legends to be heavily involved in the coaching setup of the England national team and are willing to fast-track their development in order for this to occur.

It is understood that FA chiefs have contacted the former Chelsea and Liverpool stars about undertaking their coaching badges this winter after the MLS season finishes.

Both Lampard and Gerrard are keen to step into coaching once their playing days are over with the former already accepting the invitation and the latter to decide once he works out what he is doing when he leaves the LA Galaxy at season's end.

38-year-old Lampard is in his second season with New York City FC, who lost the first leg of their Conference semi-final 2-0 to Toronto FC on the weekend, while Gerrard is also in his second season with the Galaxy who defeated Colorado Rapids 1-0 in their semi-final.
