The English Football Association want Gareth Southgate to continue in his job as England head coach beyond the World Cup.
The Daily Mail is reporting that despite how England's World Cup journey ends, Southgate is the man for the FA.
With the Three Lions preparing to take on France in the quarter finals on Saturday, Southgate is busy with his team.
However, the FA want to convince him to stay for another two or four years with the national team.
The issue is that Southgate himself, per the source, wants a return to club management.
If he does decide to move on at the end of the tournament, England have no succession plan in place.
