FA Cup is 'long overdue' for Man Utd - Scholes

Paul Scholes believes that Manchester United are long overdue for a victory in the FA Cup.

United last lifted the FA Cup title back in 2004 and since that triumph; the Red Devils have only made two final appearances in the historic competition.

Louis Van Gaal's side will have an opportunity to break the drought when they take on Crystal Palace in the Wembley decider on Saturday and three-time winner Scholes has stated that his former side are due some success in the tournament.

The ex-England international said: "It's been disappointing as we obviously want to be in the FA Cup final as it's a big day.

"It's long overdue but I also think it hasn't really been a priority. We all know it's a massive major competition but was it the priority over the Champions League or the Premier League?

"We always seem to go after those two which you can probably understand and a lot of the times we would go out of the FA Cup as our team was missing players that would needed to be rested for the big Champions League and Premier League games."
