Exclusive: Valencia icon Fernando says 'complete player' Carlos Soler great for Arsenal

Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler would be able to play Arsenal's 'attractive and colourful' football.

That is according to the Spanish club's former sporting director Fernando Gomez.

Mikel Arteta has reportedly identified the 23-year-old as a key summer transfer target, with the Spaniard eyeing his homeland for potential recruits.

Arteta is hoping to bolster his midfield, with on-loan Dani Ceballos likely returning to Real Madrid and Lucas Torreira linked with a move back to Italy.

Soler recently signed a new long-term contract with Valencia, a club he joined at the age of eight.

However, Los Che are open to a deal and would sell Soler for £36m.

Fernando, who spent 18 years as a player with Los Che and two years as sporting director, has watched Soler intimately and believes Arsenal would be receiving a 'complete player'.

"He's another great player. As I said with Ferran Torres, Soler could also play for many other clubs. Another great player," Fernando told Tribalfootball.com in an exclusive interview.

"Carlos is very similar to Ferran, with less skill, but with a lot of vision and defensive work that, added to his offensive and technical profile, makes him a very complete player.

"Arsenal have been playing attractive and colourful football for many years. Carlos knows how to play that kind of football."

Soler already has more than 100 La Liga appearances to his name, as well as 20 caps for Spain U21s.
