Exclusive: Turkey legend Okan tells Demiral to resist Wolves, Leicester interest

Turkey legend Okan Buruk thinks Juventus is the perfect club for Merih Demiral.

The 22-year-old centre-back rose quickly from playing in his native Turkey to joining one of Europe's biggest clubs.

A product of Fenerbahce's academy, Demiral spent time at Alcanenense and Sporting Lisbon B before returning to Turkey on loan with Alanyaspor.

Only six months later in January 2019, Demiral moved back to Europe, this time with Italian outfit Sassuolo.

Recognising his potential after 14 appearances for Sassuolo, Juve signed Demiral for €18m in the summer of 2019.

After managing just eight appearances this season, Demiral has been linked with an exit from Turin, with Leicester City and Wolves reportedly monitoring the situation.

But with the privilege of learning from Juve veterans Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci, Istanbul Basaksehir boss Okan thinks Demiral, who has 22 caps for Turkey, should stay at the Allianz.

"He was doing very well with both Juventus and Turkish national team, when he got injured," Buruk told Tribalfootball.com.

"He has grit and when he plays with this willing and determination he transmits this attitude even to the team. I think Juventus are perfect for him and I hope he will be able to keep on like he was doing before."
