Exclusive: Man City, Liverpool target Chukwueze 'really wants' England move

In an exclusive interview with Tribalfootball, Villarreal sensation Samuel Chukwueze has revealed how he still dreams of playing in the Premier League following his failed move to Arsenal.

Hardly anybody outside of Spain or Nigeria would have heard of Chukwueze before the 2018/19 season.

But the 19-year-old, known as Samu, has emerged as one of La Liga's most exciting talents during the current campaign, having scored 10 goals and provided 5 assists across all competitions.

This comes two years after a failed move to Arsenal for Chukwueze, who says his former academy was unable to agree a deal with the north London club.

He told TribalFootball.com: "It was very close for me to sign for Arsenal, almost had the contract in my hands.

"Unfortunately, it did not work out fine with my academy due to the side of agreement and payment. They did not agree with the terms of the contract.

"I was very happy thinking of signing and dreaming of playing for Arsenal, but my academy did not allow it to happen. I kept on pushing and praying to get a club in Europe and it came with Villarreal."

Chukwueze has only served to benefit his Premier League aspirations, with Liverpool and Manchester City reportedly keeping tabs on the Nigeria international.

The Daily Mail has reported both Liverpool and Manchester City have sent scouts to watch Chukwueze on a number of occasions this season.

Villarreal have increased the winger's release clause to €60m in order to deter suitors.

But in news that will encourage the Premier League giants, Chukwueze says he remains keen on a move to England.

He added: "Playing in England is still an ambition for me.

"I need to keep on working hard and to keep improving. I really want to play in England. I think so."
