Exclusive: Inter Milan hero Okan expects Conte to build stronger Nerazzurri for Scudetto tilt

Istanbul BB coach and former Inter Milan star Okan Buruk thinks the club will challenge for the Scudetto next season.

Antonio Conte arrived in Inter last summer with high hopes of breaking Juventus' dominance of Italian football, having won eight straight league titles.

With big name signings Romelu Lukaku and Diego Godin, Inter kept pace with Juve for most of the season until prior to the COVID-19 lockdown.

The Nerazzurri are now 11 points behind Juve with a game in hand and will look to solidify themselves in the Champions League places for the rest of the season.

Conte has already begun making moves to build his squad as he looks to challenge once again next term.

Real Madrid have agreed to sell Achraf Hakimi to Inter this summer in a deal worth €40m, following the Moroccan fullback's impressive loan spell at Borussia Dortmund.

And despite this season's disappointment, Buruk says Conte will have Inter prepared to go all the way next season.

Asked if he kept in contact with his former Inter teammates, Istanbul BB coach Buruk told Tribalfootball.com: "Sometimes I speak by phone with Zanetti and some other players. Few months ago, Toldo came to Turkey and, together with Emre, we had a coffee together.

"In this season, the team under Conte started well, but then they didn't anymore. But I think that for the next year they will build a better side and they will fight to win the Scudetto."
