Exclusive: Friedel makes Spurs plea over Lloris contract debate

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Brad Friedel has called on the club to deal in captain Hugo Lloris.

Captain also of France, Lloris is off contract at Spurs in June and yet to hear from management about a new deal.

For Friedel, the France No1 must be kept on, despite speculation management could seek to replace him next season.

Speaking to Tribalfootball.com on behalf OLBG, Friedel said: "Yes, I do because you know what you get with Hugo. He's a leader, he's a very fit individual and mentally it's down to him and how long he wants to keep playing football.

"He has quite a few more years at the highest level in him. There aren't too many goalkeepers around the world where you know exactly what you're going to get all of the time. Alisson and Ederson are in that bracket, then the likes of Oblak and Neuer as well.

"They'll make the odd mistake of course, but the next minute you don't even realise they made that mistake because they're back to normal.

"When you have a goalkeeper like that and they're still fit, then they can still carry on at a high level and you keep them.

"That's not a position that you want to continuously want to keep trying to change.

"If they can come to terms on an agreement, I would try to sign him immediately."
