Ex-West Ham, Villa mid Reo-Coker: Dempsey signing massive for MLS!

Nigel Reo-Coker suggests Seattle Sounders' capture of Clint Dempsey is a huge statement made by MLS.

The 30-year old has joined Seattle from Tottenham in the prime of his career and Vancouver Whitecaps midfielder Reo-Coker feels it is a major coup for the competition.

"It just shows the intent of the league and an organization like Seattle," said the former West Ham United and Aston Villa man told The Province.

"I think it's going to make other organizations look and go, 'You know what, the league is really kicking on.' It's about getting players in their prime, or going into their prime.

"I think he's a fantastic player and it's a big statement to all the other clubs. It'll be massive for the league."

Reo-Coker added: "I'm a big fan of Clint. He's my type of player. His work rate is unbelievable. He's aggressive in everything he does. He has the heart and will to win."
