Ex-West Ham, Everton defender Neill in fitness race for Australia's clash with NZ

Australia national team captain Lucas Neill admits he may miss this weekend's international friendly with New Zealand.

The 33-year old centre-back, whose contract with Galatasray is now expired, is preparing for Sunday's clash with the All Whites in Adelaide but says he may not get up to start because he has not fully recovered from groin surgery.

"I'm racing a little bit against the clock to be fit for this game," Neill said.

"But we always knew it was going to be touch and go. It's been a month since my operation.

"I'm training. I'm training well with the team ... but they'll probably tell you I'm not.

"I'm looking forward to playing some part in the Adelaide game and then possibly against Serbia (in Melbourne on Tuesday)."
