Ex-West Ham coach McDonald in Blackpool talks

Former West Ham United assistant manager Neil McDonald is in talks with Blackpool.

The Mail on Sunday says the vacant managerial job at Blackpool looks a straight fight between Sam Allardyce's No 2 at West Ham McDonald and Steve Thompson, who worked at Bloomfield Road in the past as assistant to Ian Holloway and Simon Grayson.

Thompson, who was suspended as Leeds United's assistant-manager after falling out with owner Massimo Cellino, has confirmed he will not be returning to Elland Road.

McDonald is available after Allardyce left West Ham last week.
