Ex-West Brom, Nottingham Forest defender Jara facing Copa America ban

Gonzalo Jara could be sanctioned by CONMEBOL for provoking the red card obtained by Edinson Cavani I the Copa America on Wednesday.

Uruguay striker Cavani was sent off for a second bookable offence midway through the second half in his side's eventual 1-0 loss to hosts Chile in the quarter-finals in Santiago.

Former West Bromwich Albion and Nottingham Forest defender Jara went down clutching his face after Paris Saint-Germain's had slapped him on the head, prompting a second yellow card.

However, Mainz defender Jara appears to grab Cavani on the bottom prior to the incident which has forced the CONMEBOL disciplinary panel to investigate the incident.

Chile are through to the semi-finals after Mauricio Isla's late strike eliminated reigning champions Uruguay.
